A day after the first World junior ranking tournament “Yonex Latvia Junior 2022” was successfully held in Sigulda, long-time tournament director of “Yonex Latvia International” Kristians Rozenvalds announced that he no longer plans to organize any of the World or European ranking badminton tournaments in Latvia next year.
The organizers of the Latvian badminton tournament “Yonex Latvia International” have collected interesting facts about the tournament, which took place from September 1 to September 4, for the seventh consecutive year in Jelgava.
Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa and Dnipro – these are the five cities that the Ukrainian Badminton Federation has chosen to name badminton courts after them at the “Yonex Latvia International”.
The badminton courts of the “Yonex Latvia International” badminton tournament, which will be held in Latvian city of Jelgava from September 1 to 4, will be named after the names of Ukrainian cities, in accordance with the list made by the Ukrainian Badminton Federation.
In cooperation with the Badminton Federation of Ukraine, Yonex Latvia tournaments have specified the conditions for the participation of Ukrainian players. They will have the opportunity to participate in all Yonex Latvian tournaments free of charge in the same status as Latvian volunteers.
New Latvian champions of the men’s and women’s teams have been crowned using the relay 100 format. The team of “Riga Badminton School” was the strongest women’s team, and the team “Ananta.lv” of Baloži Badminton Club was the strongest men’s team.
“Yonex Latvia International 2021” has been postponed to August 26-29. Similarly, the Latvian tournament in 2020 was postponed due to Covid-19 from the beginning of June to the end of August. For two years in a row, the Latvian tournament cannot take place on time duče to Covid-19.
